IS IT POSSIBLE TO ACTUALLY LOVE TWO OR MORE PEOPLE AT ONCE?

Is the feeling of love supposed to be exclusive to a person per time or not?

On Twitter yesterday, May 17 2017, a user shared about how a friend of his fell genuinely in love with three guys.
According to Noris [@iam_NORIS], this friend has a boyfriend with whom everything is going well. No issues, he's her first love and they both feel so much love for each other that marriage has been discussed on few occasions.

Somehow in the midst of this impeccable romance, she got a little too close with one of her followers on Twitter and from following each other on the social media platform, the followed each other to a couple of dates and eventually into the bedroom.

She suffers depression and anxiety issues from cheating on her boyfriend, and this her second lover suffers these issues too for reasons of his own and this brings them even closer.
Their connection was sparked by this anxiety issues.
But that's not all. There is a third guy in the picture.

As a matter of fact, the third guy is the boyfriend's roommate!

How interesting can this get, right?

Anyway, she and her boyfriend's roommate got drunk one day and had sex. After that sex, according to Noris who shared the story on Twitter, she developed strong feelings for him, too.

Now there is a lot to be said of this fascinating story of emotional connections but we'd love to know of the situation.

Is it truly possible that someone would be genuinely in love with two, three or more people at the same time?

Naira Gains, Dollar Crashes At Parallel Market by Ajudin

- The Naira has gained strength against the American Dollar at parallel market

- The local currency however crashed against the Pound but stayed firm against Euro

- Nigeria has five rates: the official rate, the black market, a rate for Muslim pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia, a retail rate set by licensed exchange BDC and a rate for foreign school fees

The Naira on Wednesday, May 17, continued its growth against the American Dollar at the parallel market.

This follows report that the local currency closed the day at N385 to the Dollar, one point stronger than the N386 it closed on Tuesday, May 16.

However, the local currency weakened against the Pound Sterling but stayed firm against the Euro at the same segment.

It dropped seven points against the Pound to close at N497 as against the previous rate of N490, but closed at N420 per Euro as it was yesterday, May 16.

The recent development comes on the heels of report that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday, May 15, injected $457.3 million into various segments of the foreign exchange market.

The CBN also disclosed that the Investors and Exporters (I&E) foreign exchange window has so far attracted $600 million from autonomous sources and from the apex bank.

This was disclosed by Isaac Okorafor, the acting director, Corporate Communications at the CBN

All PDP Candidates Disqualified In Benue LG Election by engineerboat

The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) under the leadership of Dr. John Tor Tsuwa, has rejected the list of candidates earlier submitted to it by the Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It cited a directive from the National Secretariat of the opposition party as reason for the action.

BSIEC, in a letter addressed to the Benue State Secretariat of the PDP on Wednesday, stated that, it was returning the list since it was not signed by the State Chairman of the Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction.

The Benue PDP, under the leadership of Sir John Ngbede, had on Sunday, submitted to BSIEC, names of successful councillorship and chairmanship candidates at the just concluded primaries across the state.

Consequently, the BSIEC issued the Bio-Data forms to the candidates on Monday, with the intentions of issuing nomination forms at a later date.

But in a letter of rejection sent to PDP State Secretariat on Wednesday, the Commission requested that, the opposition party should come to it for a refund of monies already paid for purchase of Bio-data forms by councillorship and chairmanship candidates it earlier submitted.

In a swift reaction, the Publicity Secretary of PDP in Benue, Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, accused BSIEC of being compromised by the APC led state government.

The party said, BSIEC, by its actions, had erred and was in violation of the mandate conferred on it by law to act as an impartial umpire in local government elections in the state.

“Pundits have argued that the Commission ought to look to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for guidance and directives on the status of political parties and their leadership compositions in the state.

“By its action, the state electoral umpire appears to have disregarded the judgement of the Court of Appeal in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, in February this year, which ordered for maintenence of the status quo ante in the PDP, as at 21st May, 2016.

“A maintenance of the status quo on the matter in the state confers recognition of the State Executive Committee of the PDP, which was elected and inaugurated at a lawfully conducted State Congress on 12th May, 2016, as monitored by the various security agencies and supervised by INEC.

“At that State Congress, John Ngbede had been elected as State Chairman with 26 other members of a State Exco, and at the 21st May, 2016 Port-Harcourt National Convention of the party, it was the Ngbede-led State Exco which represented Benue State as delegates.

“The position of one of the 3 Justices of the Court of Appeal, Port-Harcourt, who gave the recent judgement on the national leadership crisis between Senators Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Mohdu Sherrif, had maintained that, the issue which was up for determination in court was only the national leadership of the party and not any other of its leadership organs”, Iortyom said.

Meanwhile, the rejection of the list of PDP candidates in the state by BSIEC is been viewed by the people as a poorly cooked plot to pave way for easy victory for the ruling APC at the June 3rd local council polls in the state.

Such view is based on the fact that, “the group which the state electoral umpire seeks to recognise as a faction of the opposition party does not have any membership strength, neither has it conducted any primary elections.

“Propping the group up and pushing it forward for the elections is a plot to stop the PDP with its millions of supporters across the state from participating in the elections, thereby paving way for easy victory for the ruling APC”, the statement further added.

Crisis Looms Between Presidency, Senate

...Over appointment of D-G without recourse to Senate for screening, confirmation

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA— STRONG indications emerged, yesterday, that crisis looms between the Presidency and the Senate over Presidency’s appointment of a new Director-General for the National Lottery Commission, Adolphus Ekpe, without sending the name to the Senate for screening and subsequent confirmation.

Speaking, yesterday, on the floor of the Senate during plenary, Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West), who relied on Order 43, drew the attention of the senators to what he described as an unfortunate and very ugly scenario that was playing out.

He cited Section 8 (1) of the National Lottery Commission Act, which stipulates that there shall be for the commission a Director-General who shall be appointed by the President subject to the constitution and confirmation of the Senate.

SENATE CHAMBER
Melaye, who wondered why the Presidency was being selective in choosing what provision of the law to comply with, however, said it was inappropriate, adding the new Director General has started signing document.

He said: “Sad to note that a new Director-General of National Lottery Commission has been appointed, assumed office and signing documents. This country is not a banana republic and the executive cannot choose which law to obey.”

Speaking on the matter, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who called for a thorough investigation of the matter, said it was “a very weighty one which borders on the constitution and the rule of law.”

According to him, if Melaye’s claims are confirmed to be authentic, the director-general should stop the “nonesense and immediately vacate the seat.”

It will be recalled that the Senate and the Presidency have been trapped in similar constitutional conflict over the appointment of a substantive Chairman for Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, with arguments on whether or not Magu’s appointment requires Senate’s confirmation.

FILM PRODUCER IN TROUBLE FOR ALLEGED POISONING LOVER, KILLING HER UNBORN BABY

PAUL IYOGHOJIE

A 28-year old man, Olaolu Akorede, who claimed to be a film producer, has been arrested by the operatives of the Area J Command, Ajah, Lagos for allegedly procuring an harmful herbal liquid from a native doctor for his lover, Halimat, to drink for the treatment of diabetics which later allegedly caused the death of an unborn baby in her womb and then damaged her fallopian tube.

The suspect was ordered arrested by the area commander in charge of Area J command, Ajah, Lagos following a petition by Halimat through her counsel in the Chamber of Bislaw Legal Practitioners.

Narrating her ordeals in the hands of the suspect to the police, Halimat (surname withheld) in the petition, said: “I met the suspect in New York, United States of America in November, 2016 while both of us were on vacation and began a relationship.”

“When I came back to Nigeria, I noticed that I was pregnant and I called the suspect, who was still in the USA, about the development and he was very happy on the phone. And he begged me to keep the pregnancy till he comes back to Nigeria for us to wed. He requested for a return ticket to come back to Nigeria and I spent N400,000 to purchase a return ticket for him.

“When he came back to Nigeria, he also demanded and collected the sum of N2.5million from me to prepare for our wedding. But instead, he went to Abeokuta, Ogun State, to meet a native doctor who prepared a herbal liquid for him which he claimed was for treatment of diabetics.

“He convinced me to drink from the liquid and because I did not suspect anything, I drank from it unknown to me that it was to abort my pregnancy or to kill me.

“And after drinking the liquid, I began stooling blood and ended up in the hospital. Doctors later performed surgery on me and discovered that the herbal liquid had affected my unborn baby in my womb and damaged my fallopian tube. I am now appealing to the police to assist me to get justice” Halima allegedly stated.

In his defense, Akorede denied almost all the allegations made by the complainant but admitted that he procured herbal liquid for her to treat her diabetics.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that after investigations by Inspector Agboyinu Hotonu and his team, Akorede was arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate court on a four count charge of obtaining N2.5million under false pretense, procuring unknown herbal liquid for Halimat to terminate pregnancy, maliciously administering poison on Halimat which caused the death of the unborn baby in her womb.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Okete Ejima, told the court in charge No. S/25/2017 that the accused intentionally procured the harmful liquid for the complainant to kill her and the unborn child.

He said the offenses committed are punishable under sections 314, 147, 243 and 216 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, denied the police allegations in the open court and magistrate Mrs. O. O. Otitoju admitted him on bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Otitoju adjourned the case till 22 May, 2017 for mention while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi prison, Lagos pending when he will be able to fulfill his bail conditions.

Understanding Your Rights And Obligations As A Tenant

by Isaac Adeiza

People move from place to place in search of greener pastures, they leave their original home and come to settle in completely strange abodes. This has brought with it the need to let accommodation either for residence or for business. The need to regulate the relationship between landlords and tenants so as to avoid arbitrary increment in rent and wrongful eviction became also imperative.

The relationship between a landlord and a tenant is that of owner and occupier. The landlord owns the land while the tenant is entitled to use and occupy the land subject to payment of rent and good behaviour. The relationship of landlord and tenant is contractual and thus, its terms cannot be altered by either party without the agreement of the other. The parties are bound by the terms of the agreement.

A tenant enjoys a number of rights:

1. A tenant has the right to question his landlord’s authority to increase rent unreasonably and arbitrarily.
2. A tenant can maintain an action in trespass against his landlord; a tenant can also obtain an injunction to restrain his landlord from ejecting him in an unlawful manner.
3. Tenants are entitled to statutorily stipulated periods of notice to quit.
4. A tenant has the right to quiet and peaceful enjoyment of the premises.
5. The tenant’s entitlement includes the right to privacy; freedom from unreasonable disturbance, exclusive possession of the premises subject to the landlord’s restricted right of inspection and the use of common areas for reasonable and lawful purposes.
6. Where a tenant with the previous consent in writing of the landlord, effects improvements on the premises, he/she shall be entitled to claim compensation for the effected improvements on quitting the premises.

A tenant has several obligations like:

1. Paying the rent at the times and in the manner agreed
2. Paying all existing and future rates and charges not payable by the landlord by law
3. Keeping the premises in good and tenantable condition, reasonable wear and tear excepted
4. Permitting the landlord and his agents to view the condition of the premises and effect repairs in necessary parts of the building during reasonable hours.
5. Not making any alterations or additions to the premises without the written consent of the landlord
6. Not assigning or sub-letting any part of the premises without the written consent of the landlord; and notifying the landl

PDP Crisis: Makarfi Group Advises Aspirants To Defect

The division in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got to a head yesterday, with the Ahmed Makarfi group telling its supporters to seek other platforms for their ambitions.

The group is battling for the soul of the former ruling party with the Ali Modu Sheriff court-backed leadership. The Supreme Court is to settle the crisis.

It advised the state chapters to choose any available alternative platform to field candidates in the forthcoming council elections in Lagos and other elections across the states.

There are also by–elections coming up in many states.

The PDP crisis has remained intractable in spite of the decision of the Court of Appeal to recognise Sheriff as national chirman.

A report by Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson’s peace panel recommending Sheriff to conduct a convention was rejected by the Makarfi group.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s intervention failed as the meeting he called ended in a fiasco.

Members are now awaiting the outcome of the appeal by the Makarfi group at the Supreme Court, which has invited the two groups to present their addresses.

Spokesman of the Makarfi Group Prince Dayo Adeyeye said the directive on members to seek public offices on other platforms became imperative owing to an alleged plot by the Sheriff leadership to frustrate those it described as genuine PDP candidates elections.

He said there was the need for the party to take precautions to avoid a situation where its candidates would be frustrated by the antics of the Sheriff leadership , as was the case during the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states. .

He added that with the case of the party’s leadership crisis still pending before the Supreme Court, the Sheriff leadership had continued to cause distractions and confusion in the chapters.

”It is also important to state at this point that Senator Sheriff and his cohorts have been creating factional chapters in different states of the federation in order to compromise our chances in the local government elections.

”In the circumstances and with no hope of the Ali Modu Sheriff problem abating before the Supreme Court judgment, we are left with no choice than to consider ways by which our members will not be disenfranchised in these elections.

”However our position is not to choose a platform for any state where true PDP candidates are denied the opportunity to stand for the elections. State chapters are allowed to take any decision they consider appropriate”, Adeyeye stated.

The Makarfi camp expressed the optimism of a “positive outcome” of the case pending before the apex court, stressing that in collaboration with the various organs of the party, the case would be seen to its logical conclusion.

“We have a good case and our ground of appeal is solid. We believe ultimately that justice will be served on the leadership issues in our party and we are also confident that the judiciary will continue to remain independent, unbiased and neutral”, the statement added.

But, the party’s Deputy National Chairman Dr Cairo Ojougboh, said the Makarfi group had no authority to issue such directive.

Ojougboh said the ‘caretaker committee’ was not recognised and therefore, an illegal body.

“As far as we are concerned, we are one family and whatever problem we have in PDP we should not wash our dirty linen in the public.’’

He said the PDP had conducted successful local government elections in Ebonyi, which was signed by Sheriff, and that it was currently preparing for elections in Cross River and other states.

He added that all the party’s primaries were open to PDP members.

“PDP is an embodiment of great Nigerians, including our governors, who are performing very well in their various states and our youth organisations all across the states.

“What surprises us is that Makarfi claims he has a strong appeal at the Supreme Court when the Court of Appeal has made it clear that he disobeyed the order of court in Lagos and Abuja.

“Is Makarfi expecting that the law will be re-written for them, to suit their personal interest?

“By their attitude they are still unrepentant. We implore them to have a change of heart and return to the fold so that we can adequately prepare to return to power in 2019,’’ Ojougboh said.

He added that the door of peace was still open to Makarfi-led group, advising, however, that they could go back to Seriake Dickson’s reconciliation committee’s recommendations.

I Will Dump PDP If Sherrif Wins At The Supreme Court – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said that he will dump the People’s Democratic Party if the Supreme Court ruling does not favour the Makarfi-led caretaker committee in the leadership face-off with Sherrif.

According to a media report by Channels TV, Fayose said this to newsmen on Tuesday while reacting to media reports that he had removed the name and logo of the PDP from his campaign office and mini signposts mounted on Ado and Ikere-Ekiti roads.

Fayose, however, stated that he remains a bona fide member of the PDP until the outcome of the court ruling.

Despite reconciliation efforts, the governor has stated several times that he does not recognise Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the party’s leader.

On February 17, a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt had ruled that the caretaker committee headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi was illegal and could not act on behalf of the PDP.

Meanwhile, the governor also met with youths in the state where he called for more support for his administration and enjoined them to come out en masse on May 19 to honor the late former Governor of the Southwest region, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo.

Why Nigeria has not made progress — OBASANJO

Abuja—Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, said that Nigeria has not been able to make progress because successive governments failed to continue with good policies put in place by their predecessors.

Also, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, said that about 40 per cent of Africa’s non-land assets are held outside the continent, adding that Africans must repatriate such funds to form the fulcrum on which to build a large poll of international capital for the continent’s infrastructure development needs.

This came as Acting President Yemi Osinbajo urged Africa Finance Corporation, AFC to do more in providing necessary leadership towards mobilizing private capital for infrastructure development in the country, noting , “We will be relying on AFCs, especially our own DFIs to do much more; we will be relying on them to show much more leadership and to take greater risks.”

They spoke, in Abuja, yesterday, at a panel discussion on the 10 years of AFC, operations at the Infrastructure Summit. Also speaking at the forum, Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, said there was huge appetite globally to invest in Africa’s infrastructure, adding: “We need to properly package and showcase the opportunities.” In his remarks, former President Obasanjo, said that the continent has been unable to develop due to the penchant of its leaders to discontinue the few things that had been done right.

He noted that AFC had a “rough” beginning because of lack of understanding by political leaders who succeeded him. Obasanjo also relived his tour of Singapore in an effort to unravel the secrets of the Singaporean success, with a view to applying same to the continent. He said, “I remember taking 40 young and up-coming Africans to Singapore some years back. Lee Kuan Yew hadn’t written his book “from Third World to First World,” and we wanted him to tell us how he did it. We wanted to know the magic and Yew told us there was no magic. “He said: There is no magic. We did a few things right and we continue to do them right.

We in Africa have done a few things right. Our problem is that we don’t continue to do them right. “Many things are wrong about Africa but a few are right. We should continue to do those things that are right.” Prof. Soludo, on his part, said “The Sub-Saharan Africa is just the size of Belgium in economic terms. You can imagine Belgium being divided into 54 isolated countries. Second, several studies have shown that about 40 per cent of non-land private Africa’s wealth happened to be outside of Africa and the missing link, really, is creating the kind of platform to unleash African capital to be able to move across borders, to mobilize African capital. “Because in my view, it’s only the African capital that can form the fulcrum.

If African capital doesn’t move, is it the domestic capital that will say to the foreign capital, here is the place to make money? “So AFC is to provide that kind of platform, to mobilize African capital to move across borders where African capitals infrastructure which has been the missing link, can begin to fill in the missing dots in terms of linking this small, if you like, these disarticulated Belgiums, as it were.” Prof. Soludo’s assessment of AFC was that the corporation has done well in the last 10 years but that “the road ahead is still long.” On his part, Acting President Osinbajo said: “There is no question at all that all of what we required, all of what is needed will not be provided just by government. As a matter of fact, it is very clear that governments cannot finance the huge infrastructure needs of most countries.”

Managing Director of AFC, Mr. Andrew Alli, revealed that the organisation has invested approximately $4bn in projects across Africa. One of the objectives of the summit, according to him, was to develop new solutions to increase deal flow and fast track commercial projects in Africa. According to him, by bringing financiers and investors alongside project developers and fund managers, AFC wanted to ensure that more capital, both African and international, could be deployed towards addressing Africa’s pressing infrastructure needs.

A recent UN report said that of the total $2tn raised globally for infrastructure projects, only $59bn was received in Africa, representing three percent. Meanwhile, AFC and Boston Consulting Group, BCG, have said that Nigeria and other sub-Saharan Africa require a combination of solid legal frameworks, increased private-sector involvement and better fiscal incentives to plug annual infrastructure-funding gap of about $100 billion. The report noted that governments in the region have insufficient strategic foresight, political will and policy certainty and numbers of adequately skilled people to improve delivery.

The report added that financial systems need upgrading to be sound enough for projects, and nations must develop local capital and debt markets that provide lower financing costs. “Implementing projects takes twice as long as in other regions. Private investors often must act as project developers, adding 10 percent to 15 percent to the project costs and lengthening the project life cycle. The region’s nations lose as much as 2.1 percent of gross domestic product annually to inadequate infrastructure,” the organisations said.

MY YOUNGER SISTER IS GETTING MARRIED BEFORE ME!

A lot of people will say "how is this a big deal"? but until you're in that situation, you may not realize that IT IS A BIG DEAL! Especially here in Nigeria where Marriage is the ultimate achievement! My friend sent me a message asking how I coped when my younger sister got married before me, because her younger sister is getting married and she wants to handle this situation properly.

For some people there might be a bit of jealousy, or envy or that "one kind feeling" and it's okay. You want good things too. I definitely did not feel envy or jealousy but I felt like as a "Senior sister" and "first born" I did not follow schedule, so that was where my own pressure came from. My mates are married. And so? My younger sister is getting married. And So? Life na turn by turn. You have to remember that.

For Big Sis, make sure you are happy for her. Of course you are happy, but you know how emotions can sometimes get in the way of the happiness. If you cause one bit of drama, your motives can easily be misinterpreted. You don't want that. Be happy for and with your sister, enjoy helping her prepare for the big day as much as you can! In fact go out of your way to make everything stress free for her. It's also a way to "Sow" into your future.

As for lil sis getting married, be sensitive to everyone's feelings. There's no need to start unnecessary drama or reading meaning into things that are not there. Avoid snide comments and back talk. Make sure you get married with all your relationships intact! Be respectable in everything you do. If you feel your sister is acting weird, you can ask her out to lunch and talk about it.

Find out how much more I said in the video. Have you ever been in this situation? How did it go?
